With the World Cup close to climax, the tropical heat wave blowing across the Atlantic has been irresistible. Since the games began, I have had a few dreams of wondering around the thick rainforest with neon canary birds and panthers as my trusted companions for the journey. As one of the unlucky souls not in Brazil at this pivotal time, a trip to the botanical gardens at the Barbican seemed like the next best thing. Entering a foreign oasis of dark greens, finches, quails and koi carps, the glasshouse transported me to a secret world from the heartland of Latin America.
Three Floor’s City Lights dress is one of those items that gives me happy tropical thoughts. Featuring blue and green contrast colour blocking with nude mesh panels, it is as though the dress was created in the exotic jungles of Brazil and was meant for the hot summer months. The contrast of the geometric top against the fluid pleated skirt ensures a very sophisticated silhouette suitable for any event (especially ones which includes dancing). This imaginative dress inspires me to be creative and pushes the boundaries of style.
Accessorizing is key with such a playful dress to contend with. Tanah Rhea’s Quo python clutch is as if I was holding the Rio Carnival in my hand. A beautifully hand crafted clutch which merges gemstones, pearls and jewellery seemed destined for the tropical setting. Teaming this masterpiece with the explosive jewellery by Maud Traon seemed fitting as the one of a kind pieces of precious metals and gemstones create a striking contemporary look and are unique works of art. These accessories ensure maximum impact for all those summer occasions. (Tanah Rhea and Maud Traon are available at Grey Book.)
