As a summer staple, the leather jacket has been done and overdone by designers, but it never goes out of season and never fails to disappoint. From the moment I laid eyes on the Delphine jacket, I was completely and utterly enslaved by its allure. Although the peplum silhouette has been around for a few seasons now, there hasn’t been a leather jacket that has nailed this trend. Maybe it’s the fact that leather as a fabric is so dominant, but I was getting quite convinced that the two fundamentally don’t mesh. I have to say I’m glad I never made such a scathing statement as the Delphine totally proved me wrong. The Delphine cleverly streamlined the peplum style through the use of panel skirts with different angles and heights. This silhouette is magical with an elegant poise which melds leather and peplum into one. The embroidery and python scales also give the jacket a graceful sophistication which is seen throughout Pinghe’s SS14 collection.
Although some would say a double peplum is sacrilegious, I completely disagree. Combining a peplum top with a peplum skirt, when done properly, looks very modern and chic – like this Delphine combination. The skirt on its own is an elegant black pencil skirt which could easily be worn to work or to a cocktail party with some killer heels and a white blouse. But for all those modern women who are looking for sophistication with a little mischief, the best way to style it up is by teaming it with the Delphine jacket.
