Ever since reading Charles Dodgson’s (aka Lewis Carroll) Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, I’ve wished of being a guest at the mad tea party along with March Hare, the Hatter and the Dormouse. A manic all day event of riddles and stories would be a surreal way to pass the time. I suppose this is why I adore things that remind me of the mad tea party, like the Evelyn jacket. Complete with a dipped back hem and ruffles at the back which are lined with black pinstripes, the jacket has a divine silhouette with a very dramatic effect. As it’s constructed out of a gauze-like cotton and silk fabric, the jacket is breathable and perfect for a summer garden party. I also absolutely love the fantastically magical pleated neck line which compliments the ruffles. When I do get invited to a mad tea party, the Evelyn is definitely one of my first outfit pick.
The Evelyn jacket would be suitable for any summer’s day/night. For example, wear it with ripped boyfriend jeans and some metallic sandals for a leisurely coffee break or with a form fitted pencil skirt and a bespoke millinery hat for a midsummer night’s dream). I for one decided to style it with Pinghe’s Darcy dress which is made out of the same diaphanous material. The dress is super cute on its own with a very clean silhouette featuring a voluminous pleats skirt, but teaming the Darcy and Evelyn together makes for a very magical outfit. And while I’m at it, might as well continue the trend by pairing the outfit with Pinghe’s PVC and leather sandals for the ideal tea party look. Hoping for a mad tea party invite anytime now.
