(Miu Miu dress, Vietnamese bull horn necklace, Topshop flower head piece, Aldo mary janes)
Every season, there are new trends and “it” pieces that you have to have. Although trends are what keeps fashion so interesting and mesmerizing, once in a while, I stumble upon garments that I know will beat the test of time. Some examples of these forever pieces are the Chanel suit, the Yves Saint Laurent cigarette pants, an Issey Miyake pleated blouse, the Birkin, the Manolo mary janes to name a few. This list is usually different for everyone and there are very personal priorities that influence what goes in it. I had a good think about what would be on my list, but the only conclusion I reached was that I’m still in my formative years of my fashion lifetime. There are so many layers and dimensions I have consider – like pealing petals from a rose. I’m sure if you ask me in a year, the list would have expanded drastically. So for now, I think my forever list will continue to evolve. There is however one certainty about my list – the Miu Miu is definitely in. From the feminine silhouette to the off-pink hue, there’s something very sophisticated yet young that makes the dress timeless. It’s a statement piece which doesn’t require any fussy additions, but at the same time, it’s strong enough not to get drowned when worn with bold jewels.
