Amongst the roses in Queen Mary’s Garden in Regent’s Park, there is a little Japanese island surrounded by willows and accessed via a bow bridge covered in wisteria. This little island complete with winding paths, gurgling streams and stone lanterns dates back to the 1850s and is a hidden gem in London. Unlike the more famous Kyoto Garden in Holland Park, the Japanese Garden in Regent’s Park is secluded and a perfect oasis for anyone looking for tranquility and solace. I found myself lost in thought as I listened to the trickling stream and the chirping goslings in the surrounding lake. Whenever I am longing for some reminder of Japan, this is my little home away from home where I can recharge my spirits and find some much needed clarity in life.
