(Stella McCartney jumpsuit, Whistles French Suede Stilettos)
Passages from the Secret Garden crossed my mind when I saw these English roses intertwined on brick walls. As one of my childhood favourites, Burnett’s classic inspired many expeditions into mysterious nooks in suburban Tokyo. There were countless adventures through parks and bushes with the hope that I would stumble upon that magical door to an enchanted paradise. Evidently, my adventure skills were not very good. But Burnett definitely gave me some lessons in courage and a rumbling itch to explore the world. So stumbling upon these beautifully groomed roses and exotic flowers (including this blue poppy which by the way seemed like a reincarnation of the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland) made my heart skip a beat with childish excitement. This sounds completely mental, but at the moment,I really felt like I had finally found the Secret Garden and surprise surprise, I found it in England.
This grapefruit print jumpsuit from Stella McCartney is fast becoming my favourite piece for this spring. With slits running up the front and a peep hole back, it’s sexy and elegant at the same time. The silk is also the most comfortable fabric to wear with just the right amount of flimsy texture for a spring adventure around London. As a jumpsuit, it’s got the perfect level of playfulness which suits any occasion, like a day at the Chelsea Flower Show.
