The Letterbox Saddle Bag
There are two things in my life as a blogger that I cannot live without – a city handbag and the iPhone. Both are twenty-first century essentials that as a twenty-first century girl, I am proud to say are firmly part of my everyday lifestyle.
Finding a city bag that is just right is quite a difficult task. As a blogger, my list of essentials include (at the bare minimum): purse, mini makeup case, phone, keys, headphones and camera (A MUST). I also love walking around the city to capture moments and places so I like to keep my handbag as small as possible to avoid feeling weighted down. This makes finding the right city bag quite a challenge. Smaller the better, but big enough to fit my camera and all of my other essentials. Aspinal’s Letterbox Saddle bag from its Letterbox Lock Family’s 2015 Spring Summer Collection is simply the best city bag I have found in ages. In a smooth navy colour, the handbag is classic with an elegant, yet stylish touch. The top handle combined with a detachable cross-body strap (that features equestrian style stud detailing) make the bag extremely versatile – ideal for city strolls and any engagements. And…my camera fits nice and snug in it. Perfect!
Now the iPhone. I have always been an Apple girl ever since my first computer class in 2nd grade. All of my desktops, laptops, screens and ipods have been an Apple creation. However, lured by the promise of a better camera and general capabilities, I switched to the Samsung Galaxy about two years ago. There were gasps from my fellow Apple lovers and quite a few questionable looks from my blogger friends. I did for a while feel very VERY ashamed of myself. Was it worth it? Honestly, as a blogger, absolutely not. Although the camera might have been slightly better (just), as a blogger, it all came down to editing ability and compatibility with all the various social channels, most importantly (and obviously) Instagram. Apps have definitely caught up in the Android market, however, I found the Galaxy very fiddly and the right apps were not available for my blogging purposes. For example, in order for me to upload an image from my recent post to Instagram, I would have had to:
- download the image from my website onto the Galaxy
- scale/crop the image into a square using the inbuilt photo editor
- frame/edit it using an app
- then finally, upload on to Instagram.
I would have had to create 3 different images of the same picture in this process just to get it Instagram-able. And, having all Mac gadgets made the Galaxy very much an odd one out. It had no iCloud capability, I lost most of my contact details when I switched over (this is in part Apple’s fault for making the process as difficult as possible) and it did not sync with my MacPro.
I gave the Galaxy 2 years of my life, but finally, last week, I switched back to an iPhone. Life has been so much better since. The 6 Plus has definitely reinvigorated my love of Instagraming and taking photographs on the go. I have noticed a rise in the number of photographs I post on the site and I am having so much fun dressing up my phone.
Lastly, the Galaxy had case options, but NO WHERE NEAR the variety and options that are available for an iPhone. Casetify is one great place that I have gone to to find a stylish case for my new 6 Plus baby. I therefore now promise and swear (on Mr Pugington) that:
Mr Samsumg – we are never ever getting back together again.
